Limbunan

Limbunan means a bridal chamber where the betrothed dwells as she waits for the wedding day. In her confinement to the bridal chamber, anybody outside their family's kinship is not allowed to have a contact with her before the nuptials. Set in Maguindanao during the 1980's, Gutierrez Mangansakan II's Official entry to the 2010 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival talks about an arduous anticipation of Ayesha, the bride to be, as she prepares herself to tie the knot with someone she haven't met before. The film speaks about an outward silence unparalleled with inward emotions of doubt, agitations and uncertainty. It was a very silent film leaving it's viewers a piece of meditation. A simple question that perplexed humanity for ages now: what is love? Is it a choice or is it destined to be?
